It just seems appropriate that my first post be about television. I certainly don't put in the hours with the tv like I used to, but I still certainly get a lot of tv watching in. And during my recent guide and channel surfing I stumbled upon Home Movies, a squiggle vision cartoon on Adult Swim (Cartoon Network), which happens to be awesome. I've seen it on before, but never really stopped to pay attention. While I do love a handful of Adult Swim shows, I don't pretend to understand many many others or find several of them simply unwatchable (ie Metalocalypse-Sorry Charlie).
But, Home Movies, I'm glad I gave the time to because I absolutely loved it! I know was late to the party ,but I don't care! The characters are sweet but with a dry sense of humor. It's related to the old Comedy Central show Doctor Katz (that was cancelled far too early in my opinion-and I own Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD, at least I have that) and a lot of the voice talent are the same. What I love about Home Movies is that there are a lot more characters than Dr Katz, and being set in school and at the characters' homes, there are a lot more opportunities for story lines and general humor. It's not particularly vulgar by any stretch or terribly off-color. But, the simple quirky nature of the animation and the characters personalities make it very much worth the 30 minutes every night!
Peace Out...
