It is a miracle-we actually pulled pictures off of our camera in a timely manner! That so never happens. They're from our Hilton Head Trip - the link is below...
All last week Charlie and I ventured to Charlotte, NC for a Honda class (I was coordinating/facilitating classes, he was a participant-surprisingly enough, it was not weird to have him in one of my classes). Since I have family in SC, we decided to spend the weekend down in Hilton Head to visit my cousin and his family. Turns out that's the same weekend his sister, his mom (my aunty of course), and my mom were going to be visiting as well. So, it was quite the mini-reunion. Class ended on Friday afternoon, so we decided to detour in Charleston, SC for the evening before getting to Hilton Head. What a pretty city. I love that part of the country-the trees, the spanish moss, the architecture-all of it is just pretty. I think I may have been a southern belle in my past. We spent our minimal time there in the Market City Square. It's an interesting area-it's near the University and the Citadel apparently (lots of students in full dress walking around). We were in a big open air market-but then if you go around the corner-it's these really high end stores. It was a little trippy. I really want to get back though and spend more time in the city.
We finally made our way to Hilton Head for a quick visit. Since fam wasn't going to be available until later on Saturday we toured around the island. We've been before-but it's been a while. We went to the Sea Pines Plantation which actually has ruins of an old plantation and then some really pretty lighthouses, etc. (The island is divided by "plantations" which aren't really plantations-they're basically just gated communities and they think it's "cute" to call them plantations-it's bizarre.) Pics of the Ruins are below. We apparently didn't take any other pics? Our day was unfortunatley ended early when we got in a tiny accident waiting to go to Harbour Towne. No one was hurt or anything-and the rental had minimal damage-but since it's a rental-we had to go to Hertz and mess w/ that. Boo Hiss! The rest of the trip was spent visiting with my coustin Timmy, his wife Anjie, their little boy Jackson, my cousing Erin, my Aunt Linda, and my mom. It was nice to visit with all of them there. Hilton Head is a beautiful island. And if you're lucky-you might see an alligator-for reals-they just hang out by the water-ponds, etc. OH! And you can go to a Piggly Wiggly! It's always a fun destination whilst in SC.
Anywho-it was a nice time in the Southeast...But, I think we're both glad to get home :)
